Third Nine Weeks

Reading:
Recognizes/applies the usage of homophones, homographs, antonyms, and synonyms.
Identifies and incorporates common idioms and figurative phrases into oral/written language.
Identifies and infers meaning from common root words, common prefixes and common suffixes
Distinguishes fact from opinion
Identifies and infers main idea and details.
Identifies and infers cause-and-effect relationships and draws conclusions.
Recalls explicit facts and infers implicit facts.
Grammar Skills:
Uses plural, possessive and singular nouns
Identifies and uses personal and possessive pronouns
Writing Skills:
Produces persuasive writing
Math:
Solves problems with multiplication and division (continues)
Create and interpret line plot graphs, pictographs, Venn diagrams and bar graphs
Uses appropriated tools and units when measuring length
Uses common fractions in problem solving
Understands elapsed time (full, half and quarter hour)
Identifies scalene, isosceles, and equilateral triangles
Identifies radius, diameter and center of a circle
Math Facts: Students should reach mastery level (0s – 12s), 100 problems in 5 minutes

Reading Requirements
Students need to read at least 20 minutes every night! Please listen to them read and ask a few questions to make sure they understand and ENJOY their reading. Students should be reading a 'just right' book where they miss no more than five words per page and UNDERSTAND what they are reading. Remember to sign the reading log every day.
