Reading: Figurative Language
Working on Story Elements (genre, plot, setting, conflict . . .) and story vocabulary
Novel Study: Number the Stars by Lois Lowery
Spelling Words: Regular word list or commonly misspelled words as determined by pretest - Students need to study a little every night! Quiz on Friday
Vocabulary Words: Study daily - quizzes on Fridays
Grammar Skills: Parts of Speech
Writing Skills: The Writing Process, Writing an Autobiography, Personal Narrative, A.D.V.A.N.C.E Pledge, Creative Writing, Persuasive Writing, Informational Writing
Science: Electricity and Magnetism
Reading Requirements
Students need to read at least 30 minutes every night! Our goal is that every student earns 17 points each six weeks and an equivalent of 1,000,000 words per school year.
Our Rules
Students are expected to:
1) Be respectful
2) Bring all needed materials to class
3) Be responsible for doing class work and homework
4) Have agenda and reading log filled out and signed daily
5) Keep our school clean and beautiful
The student will lose break time if expectations are not met.

9:00-10:15 Reading or Math
10:15 -10:40 Break
10:40-11:50 Reading or Math
11:50 -12:05 Prepare for Lunch
12:05-12:35 Lunch
12:35 – 1:00 Silent Reading
1:00 – 2:00 Science (Mon. & Tues.)
Social Studies (Wed. &
Thurs.)
Enrichment is one day per week
10:15- 11:00.
Library is 12:35 -1:00 on Wednesdays.
Clusters - Fridays 1:00-2:00
