The skills that students are required to learn each year are from the Georgia Performance Standards. There are standards for

·      English/Language Arts (ELA),

·      Mathmatics,

·      Science

·      Social Studies.

As you may already know, the state of Georgia is one of 40 states to adopt the national Common Core State Standards.  These will replace the English/Language Arts and Math GPS.  Teachers will begin to explore these standards (aligned very closely to our current standards) for the remainder of this school year and for the 2012-2012 school year.  These standards will be fully implemented in the 2013-2014 school year.  State leaders are currently addressing changes that will need to take place in our current assessments (CRCT, etc) to align to the new CCSS.  For more information about this please visit the Ga.
